The next and last US airline in line to retire its Boeing 747 jumbo jet fleet is Delta,

Like United Airlines did last month, the farewell and final Delta 747 flight details are being planned

out in detail so that passengers, employees and enthusiasts can say their goodbyes. Since Delta

said in 2014 that it would retire the Queen of the Skies at the end of 2017

Relive one of last commercial flight

from Detroit to Seoul on DL159 with iconic "Queen of the Sky"

Flight Review

As always to make a flight in B747 is a great moment. Especially when I know that will be my last flight in B747 with Delta Air Lines.

Because it is the last US airliners operated the B747 in passenger configuration

The latest Delta B747s are in operation from Detroit only. For my last flight I had the choice between Tokyo, Seoul or Shanghai.

Seoul Incheon was my choice and the flight was in accordance with Delta standards with a touch of nostalgia

  1. Final U.S. departure: Flight 159A at Detroit to Seoul-Incheon at 12:31 p.m. on Dec. 18

  2. Final Asia Pacific arrival: Flight 159 at Seoul-Incheon from Detroit at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 19

  3. Final Asia Pacific departure: Flight 158 at Seoul-Incheon to Detroit at 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 20

  4. Final U.S. arrival: Flight 158 at Detroit from Seoul-Incheon at 10:14 a.m. on Dec. 21

  5. Delta will take the 747 on an employee and costumers (using their miles) farewell tour from Detroit to Seattle on Dec. 18, Seattle to Atlanta on Dec. 19 and Atlanta to Minneapolis-St. Paul on Dec. 20.

  6. The 747 will fly a handful of sports team and ad-hoc charter flights through Dec. 31.

  7. Delta will fly its final 747 to its retirement place in Arizona in early January. This ferry flight will not be open to passengers.

All Enthusiats says goodbye to the Boeing 747!

Delta will be celebrating the iconic and revolutionary 747 throughout December in all of its channels and encourages customers, enthusiasts and employees to share their own tributes and remembrances using the #DL747Farewell hashtag
