My experience of "Plane Spotting Guides" is as of April 2011 :

  • Location : It’s one of the best airports you’ll ever in Florida. You can go to the top floor of the short term parking garage, by foot if you're passanger or by car. On top level, you have a great views of RWY36/18 left and right, the view of apron & terminals with gate are great too.

  • Security : Any problem, if the rules are respected

  • Authrization : Plane Spotting activities are welcome at Tampa International Airport. To obtain authorization please e-mail KFigley@TampaAirport.com

  • San Diego International Airport ( IATA : SAN , ICAO : KSAN , FAA LID : SAN ), formerly known as Lindbergh Field , is an international airport 3 mi (4.8 km) northwest of Downtown San Diego , California , United States. It is owned and operated by the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. San Diego International Airport covers 663 acres (268 ha) of land. Opened in august 16, 1928, was San Diego Municipal Airport – Lindbergh Field ( because Charles Lindbergh flight tested the Spirit of St. Louis before his historic 1927 transatlantic flight ). A major defense contractor and contributor to World War II " Consolidated Aircraft " later " Convair " had their headquarters on the border of Lindbergh Field, and built many of their military aircraft there. Convair used the airport for test and delivery flights from 1935 to 1995. In 2015, traffic at San Diego International exceeded 20 million passengers, serving more than 500 scheduled operations carrying about 50,000 passengers each day. While primarily serving domestic traffic, San Diego has nonstop international flights to Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. San Diego is the largest metropolitan area in the United States that is not an airline hub or secondary hub; however, San Diego is a focus city for Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines . The top five carriers in San Diego during 2015, by seat capacity, were Southwest Airlines (42.7%), American Airlines (14.0%), United Airlines (11.2%), Alaska Airlines (10.1%), and Delta Air Lines (9.9%). San Diego International is the busiest single runway airport in the United States and third-busiest single runway in the world, behind Mumbai and London Gatwick . The airport's landing approach is well known for its close proximity to the skyscrapers of Downtown San Diego , and can sometimes prove difficult to pilots due to the relatively short usable landing area, steep descent angle over the crest of Banker's Hill , and shifting wind currents just before touchdown. San Diego International operates in controlled airspace served by the Southern California TRACON , which is some of the busiest airspace in the world. • Los Angeles International Airport ( IATA : LAX , ICAO : KLAX , FAA LID : LAX ), commonly referred to as LAX (with each of its letters pronounced individually), is the primary international airport serving Los Angeles , California , United States , and its surrounding metropolitan area . LAX is in the Westchester district of the city of Los Angeles, California, 18 miles (30 km) southwest of Downtown Los Angeles , with the commercial and residential areas of Westchester to the north, the city of El Segundo to the south and the city of Inglewood to the east. Owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), an agency of the government of Los Angeles , formerly known as the Department of Airports, the airport covers 3,500 acres (1,400 ha) of land. LAX has four parallel runways. In 2018, LAX handled 87,534,384 passengers, making it the world's fourth busiest and the United States' second busiest airport following Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport . As the largest and busiest international airport on the U.S. West Coast , LAX is a major international gateway to the United States, and also serves a connection point for passengers traveling internationally. The airport holds the record for the world's busiest origin and destination airport, since relative to other airports, many more travelers begin or end their trips in Los Angeles than use it as a connection. It is also the only airport to rank among the top five U.S. airports for both passenger and cargo traffic. LAX serves as a hub or focus city for more passenger airlines than any other airport in the United States. It is the only airport that four U.S. legacy carriers ( Alaska , American , Delta , and United ) have designated as a hub and is a focus city for Air New Zealand , Allegiant Air , Norwegian Air Shuttle , Qantas , Southwest Airlines , and Volaris . While LAX is the busiest airport in the Greater Los Angeles Area, several other airports , including Hollywood Burbank Airport , John Wayne Airport , Long Beach Airport , as well as Ontario International Airport , also serve the area. • Santa Monica Airport ( IATA : SMO , ICAO : KSMO , FAA LID : SMO ) (Santa Monica Municipal Airport) is a general aviation airport largely in Santa Monica, California . The airport is about 2 miles (3 km) from the Pacific Ocean ( Santa Monica Bay ) and 6 miles (10 km) north of Los Angeles International Airport . Originally Clover Field , after World War I aviator 2nd lieutenant Greayer "Grubby" Clover , the airport was the home of the Douglas Aircraft Company was headquartered adjacent to Clover Field. Among other important aircraft built there, Douglas manufactured the entire Douglas Commercial "DC" series of reciprocating-engine-powered airliners including the DC-1 (a prototype), DC-2 , DC-3 , DC-4 , DC-5 (only 12 built), DC-6 and DC-7 . During World War II, B-18 Bolo and B-18A bombers and thousands of C-47 (military version of the DC-3) and C-54 (later the civilian DC-4) military transports were built at Santa Monica, during which time the airport area was cleverly disguised from the air with the construction of a false "town" (built with the help of Hollywood craftsmen) suspended atop it. In 1958, Donald Douglas asked the city to lengthen the airport's runway so that Douglas Aircraft could produce and test the DC-8 there. The city, bowing to objections of residents, refused to do so, and Douglas closed a plant that had employed 44,000 workers in World War II, moving airliner production to Long Beach Airport . The FAA 's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013 categorized it as a reliever airport . The airport is scheduled to remain open until 2029 . Discover below all work of the Team
