Mauritania Airlines # Flight Review • L6 005 [ PARIS → ATAR ] B737Max • Economy Class

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

March 2018 by Thierry Wheeler

I traveled 15 days in Mauritania during March 2018 to do a Trek in the Adrar, having gone through the tour operator "Point-Voyage" for those interested. The chartered flight was carried out by Mauritania Airlines aboard their new brand Boeing 737-8 Max, received in December 2017.

The departure of this flight is operated from Terminal 3 of CDG.

At check-in, the flight will have only 100 passengers, the tourist season in the desert ending due to the increase of temperatures.

Boarding begins by bus to the plane, a systematic at Terminal 3

The problem of the terminal 3, it's not friendly for the spotter.

Our 737 arrives but alas with the works and barriers not really top to take pictures

On Board Boeing 737 Max-8 (5T-CLJ)

The Business cabin has 16 real business seats with individual TV, I think that for the moment, they do not really have to be used to having planes of last generations with televisions because the only available program is a video of presentation of Mauritania, videos of prayers and the Sky Map.

Too bad also that with a new plane the cabin is not maintained, my seat having already the broken record and the leg rest up alone.

In economy class, no individual video but only that of the ceiling that will pass a single presentation video of Mauritania with the sound broadcast in cabin.

On this flight the service is really light, a slice of sweet cake with a drink passage, still limit on a flight of more than 4h but the tour operator "Point Voyage" tries to reduce prices to the maximum to offer rates attractive for his travels.

start of descent on the Adrar and fly over magnificent landscapes

Beautiful arrival on Atar, and view of the city before turning to land

Latest photos of the cabin without people

Desembarking and I have the pleasure of taking lots of photos without anyone telling me anything, the co-pilot will take me even on the coast so I can take pictures of the 737.

General conclusion :

Very glad to have discovered a new company, although this flight is a charter flight and therefore does not offer the usual service they must have on their scheduled flights. First time in 737 max, I was expecting some innovations but finally the cabin is the same as on Boeing's latest generation aircraft with the Sky interior.

Nice Cabin Crew enough but it's true that a single drink on a flight of more than 4 hours and with a not full cabin is really a minimum.

the most is the arrival on Atar and the approach.

Since the visa is delivered on the spot on arrival it takes a little time, but it allowed me to stay on the tarmac to take photos and videos before it left for Nouakchott, based in Mauritania Airlines.
